To increase the frequency of automatic stops of an engine to the maximum when a vehicle is stopped, while suppressing a feeling of discomfort given to occupants as low as possible by maintaining air conditioner control performance at a high level, even if a detection means for air conditioner control in an air conditioner control device 1 is failed, when automatically stopping the engine with the vehicle in a stationary condition and the air conditioner control device 1 in a predetermined state.
The vehicle is equipped with the air conditioner control device 1 having a heat exchanger heating or cooling air flow into a vehicle compartment through heat exchange with a heat medium supplied from engine accessories driven by the engine. The control device is configured to permit or inhibit the automatic stop of the engine by responding to a detection means by which a failure is detected, when the failure is detected on a plurality of detection means (an inside-air sensor 21, outside-air sensor 22, water temperature sensor 25, temperature control switch 14, mode switch, and so on) for air conditioner control in the air conditioner control device 1.
