To provide a vehicular drive device disposed with an engine power interrupting clutch in a fluid transmission system with a lock-up clutch capable of improving the controllability of both clutches and a transmission torque capacity and suppressing the enlargement of a fluid drive device and also the enlargement of the drive device while reducing the heating value of a friction member during clutch engagement.
Each of a lock-up clutch 40 and the engine power interrupting clutch 50 is formed into a hydraulic multiple disk clutch with actuators 45, 55. The friction plate 41 of the lock-up clutch 40 is disposed at the outer-diameter side of a torus 35 and the engine power interrupting clutch 50 is formed into a smaller diameter than that of the lock-up clutch, thereby to install the engine power interrupting clutch 50 in a torque converter 13. Besides, on the outer-diameter side of the engine power interrupting clutch 50, a motor generator 14 is disposed and overlapped with the friction plate 51 of the engine power interrupting clutch 50 in the axial direction.
