To provide a vehicular drive device disposed with an engine power interrupting clutch in a fluid transmission system with a lock-up clutch capable of improving the controllability of both clutches and a transmission torque capacity and suppressing the enlargement of a fluid drive device and also the enlargement of the drive device while reducing the heating value of a friction member during clutch engagement.
In the drive device 10, each of the lock-up clutch 40 and the engine power interrupting clutch 50 in the torque converter 13 is made into a hydraulic multiple disk clutch with actuators 45, 55. The lock-up clutch 40 is disposed nearer to an engine 15 side than a torus 35, and the engine power interrupting clutch 50 is disposed nearer to the engine 15 side than the lock-up clutch 40. The actuator 45 for lock-up clutch and the actuator 55 for the engine power interrupting clutch are oppositely disposed so that the respective friction plates 41, 51 are oppositely pressed.
