To provide a vehicular steering system that enables a driver to grasp a road surface condition when an actuator applies an operation reaction to an operating member, and improve maneuvering performance by applying an operation reaction suitable for a vehicle operation condition.
A movement of a steering actuator 2 is transmitted to wheels 4 to produce a steering angle change. The steering actuator 2 is controlled for a variable ratio of a turning degree of the wheels 4 to an operating degree of the operating member 1. An operation reaction generated by the operation actuator 19 and applied in a neutral position return direction to the operating member 1 is changed in dependence on a vehicle operation condition. The operation actuator 19 can be controlled to generate an operation reaction corresponding to the sum of an operation reaction target value correlated with a vehicle operation condition and an additional reaction correlated with a value corresponding to a variation in road surface reaction.
