Abstract:
To provide a vehicular torque converter capable of attaining both improvement of engine startability and assurance of a high power transmission efficiency.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a vehicular torque converter 1 that is constituted in such a way that a pump impeller 2 arranged between an engine and a transmission and connected to an output shaft of said engine and a turbine runner 3 connected to an input shaft of said transmission are oppositely arranged, a stator 4 is arranged between the pump impeller 2 and the turbine runner 3, there is provided a lock-up clutch 9 that is turned ON/OFF by hydraulic fluid to make a direct connection between said output shaft and said input shaft under a predetermined condition and oil acting as torque transmission medium is charged in it. There is provided an opening or closing mechanism 26 for opening or closing a communication hole 10b opened to a discharging passage B that is one of the working oil discharging passages A, B at the OFF time of the lock-up clutch 9 in response to an engine speed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
