Abstract:

To provide a vehicular travel control device for optimally determining a shift stage or a shift ratio for a shift destination when performing shift-point speed reduction control of a vehicle with the shifting operation of a transmission into the shift stage or the shift ratio for a relatively lower speed.

The vehicular travel control device performs speed reduction control of the vehicle with the shifting operation of the vehicular transmission 10 into a target shift stage or a target shift ratio for a relatively lower speed. The target shift stage or the target shift ratio is determined in accordance with at least one of a vehicle speed and an engine speed with the shift into the target shift stage or the target shift ratio. In this case, the target shift stage or the target shift ratio found in accordance with a parameter corresponding to a vehicle distance to a preceding vehicle or a parameter corresponding to the size of a corner or the gradient of a road is corrected under preset restrictions in accordance with one of the vehicle speed and the engine speed with the shift into the target shift stage or the target shift ratio.
