To provide a vending machine which ensures that frequent minor errors with internal operation are surely discriminated and reported.

The vending machine comprises a detection means for detecting errors in the vending machine; a counting means for counting the actual number of articles sold; a storage means for initially storing the reference number of articles to be sold; and a determining means which compares the count by the counting means with the value stored in the storage means when the detection means detects an error in the vending machine and which, if the count by the counting means is smaller than the value stored in the storage means, discriminates this to be an abnormality with a predetermined frequency of occurrence and outputs a report signal.
