Abstract:

PURPOSE: To automatically measure and indicate the thickness of a veneer during the cutting by measuring the distance at which a planer table moves during the unit rotation of a spindle in measuring the thickness of a veneer during the cutting of a veneer lace.

CONSTITUTION: A wood 5 is mounted on a spindle shaft 2 rotating with a motor 1 while the rotation of a step transmission shaft 9 is transmitted to a step shaft 3 through a level gear. A planer table 4 moves with the rotation of the step shaft 3 toward the wood 5 to cut. The thickness of cutting is determined by the moving distance of the planer table during the unit rotation of the spindle shaft 2. The unit rotation of the spindle is detected optically by a reflection tape stuck on the spindle shaft and a reflective photoelectric tube provided as detector 6. A rotary type encoder is mounted on the shaft 3 as a moving distance detector 7. The moving distance of the planer table is measured and indicated on a display 8 from signals of both detectors.
