Title:
VENEER WITH INTERLOCKED GRAIN AND ITS MANUFACTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3733509
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a veneer with interlocked grains, on which wavy grains or cross grains are demonstrated artificially on a surface with straight grains, out of a wood of the kind of generating particularly interlocked grains but actually not provided with the interlocked grains.
SOLUTION: A wood flitch is so cut into the desired thickness as to form straight grains on a cut face by using a veneer cutter having a knife 1 with a cutting edge 3 with a wavy face 2 formed continuously in the longitudinal direction of the knife 1 and particularly with the knife 1 with an end edge 4 of the cutting knife edge is deformed into the wavy shape in the width direction of the knife and having a wavy knife face on which root sections 6 and 6' of respective wavy forms are positioned on the same line extending in the longitudinal direction of the knife. Then a veneer of shape of undulations thus formed is woodworked smoothly by thermal fixing or thermal clamping to demonstrate artificial wavy grains or cross grains on the straight grain face of the veneer.
