Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of a leakage owing to suction of a lubricant to an air chamber without increasing slide resistance by preventing the occurrence of leakage of a viscous lubricant to a bearing part on the air chamber side between outer and inner tubes and disposing a seal member to allow ventilation of air
CONSTITUTION: A shock absorber 1 comprises an outer tube 2 having a closed lower end part ; and an inner tube 3 slidably fitted therein. A piston 10 fixed to one end of the outer tube 2 through a piston rod 6 is fitted in the inner tube 3. A bearing 17b is securely pressed in the upper end part 2a and the central part 2c of the outer tube 2 such that it is forced into slide contact with the outer peripheral surface of the inner tube 3. A circulating space 15 surrounded with the tube parts 2 and 3 and the bearing 17b is filled with grease 16. In this case, a seal member 25 having a function to allow ventilation of air but prevent the passage of the grease 16 is disposed on the other end side of the lower bearing 17b and leakage of grease 16 is reliably prevented from occurring as ventilating ability is ensured.
