To maintain a high degree of freedom in a line layout design owing to high versatility as versatile cells constituting a production line, and to appropriately reduce a loss in time and cost when changing a line structure or the like.
The versatile cells for a production system includes a set of versatile cells 100 configured of minimum elements required for processing an object to be machined (workpiece) which comprises a base unit 10 for supporting a robot 60, a part supply unit 20 for supplying parts of the workpiece to the robot 60, and a machining area 30 extended from the base unit 10. The base unit 10 has a planar shape of a regular hexagon, and movably supports the robot 60 which is used at least for carrying the workpiece on a plane region of a regular hexagon. Accordingly, the operation range of the robot 60 is set at a range from the inside of the base unit 10 to the outside thereof in a form including at least a part of the machining area 30.
