Abstract:

To provide a vertical alignment liquid crystal aligning agent excellent in reliability as well as in coating properties and vertically aligning properties.

The vertical alignment liquid crystal aligning agent contains at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of polyamic acids and imidized polymers thereof, wherein the polyamic acids are obtained by reacting diamines including p-phenylenediamine, specific 2,4-diaminobenzenes substituted by a substituent of which the 1-position has a steroid structure and specific 3,5-diaminobenzenes substituted by a substituent of which the 1-position has a steroid structure with a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride.
