To connect a blade and a support material without inhibiting an air flow flowing on a blade surface, to sufficiently exhibit the original performance of the blade, and to reduce the blade end loss.SOLUTION: A vertical axis wind turbine includes a plurality of, for example, two blades 3 parallel to a rotation axis O extending in a vertical direction of a rotation center member 2, and the blade 3 and the rotation center member 2 are connected with each other by a support member 4. A blade end plate 8 covering an end surface of the blade 3 and protruding to an outer periphery of the blade 3 is provided on an end on the blade side of the support member 4.
