To provide a burning furnace that secures uniformity of gas circulation by preventing drift of combustion gas which may be generated in a vertical burning furnace to give homogeneous products without burning unevenness, while having high fuel efficiency which allows burning at low combustion cost.
At the top of a furnace body 1 of the vertical burning furnace, an inside narrowing means 2, constituted of a narrowing plate 21 having a concentric circular shape with respect to a furnace wall and having a size occupying 15-40% of a cross-sectional area in the furnace and a narrowing cylinder 22 around the narrowing plate, is held by a support rod 4. The burning furnace includes an outside narrowing means 3 having a doughnut-like shape extending from an outer wall of the furnace toward the center over an inner wall of a refractory and having a size occupying 10-25% of the cross-sectional area in the furnace. An inside edge of the outside narrowing means is composed to face to the narrowing cylinder. A narrowing rate of the cross section inside the furnace at the part is made to be 25-65%, which reduces drift of gas inside the furnace.
