PURPOSE: To obtain excellent operability by making a plurality of car-loading cages connected one another in a circular shape travel in vertical, circulatory movement, and by making entrance and exit of cars executed through an entrance/exit port.

CONSTITUTION: When operation is made for calling of an optional cage 9 to an entrance/exit port 4, a preestimate is made, in advance of the start of circular movement of a group of cages 9 in a specified direction, to judge whether overload is existent, exceeding allowable difference in the number of cars for loading. In the case where the allowable difference in the number of cars for loading is not exceeded, a high-speed side drive means 58 is actuated by a selective operation control means, and thereby the cage 9 is moved to the entrance/exit port 4. In the case where the allowable difference in the number of cars for loading is exceeded, a low-speed side drive means 59 is actuated by the selective operation control means for low-speed operation so that the cage 9 is moved to the entrance/exit port 4 without making an electric motor overloaded. Thereby rapid and efficient circulatory movement becomes feasible.
