PURPOSE: To remove residual slag surely and to prevent the production of defective products by mounting a driving device separately to a vertical die casting machine and detaching and tilting a charging port automatically.
CONSTITUTION: In a vertical die casting device for casting of light alloys, etc., the opening end of a charging port 18 is mated with a molten metal introducing part 6a of a plunger sleeve 6, and is pinned 19 to a body. On the other hand, a charging port 18 is pinned 20 to a rod 21. The piston of said rod 21 is slided with an air cylinder 22. The cylinder 22 is operated by a solenoid valve 26 controlled with a timer switch 29. A dog 31 is attached to a plunger rod 14 to actuate a limit switch 30. The switch 30 and a solenoid valve 26 are operated cooperatively to detach the port 18 from the body and tilt the same. At this time, residual slag 18a is stripped from the port 18 by the impact at the tilting end and is removed from the opening end.
