Abstract:
To provide a vertical lathe that is configured to smoothly discharge cutting chips by gravity through a through hole of a main shaft.
The vertical lathe includes: a bed 10; the main shaft 12 that is supported so as to be rotatable about a vertical axis line relative to the bed and has the through hole 12a; a holding tool 14 fixed to an upper part of the main shaft and holding a workpiece W; a machining tool T1 for machining the workpiece held by the holding tool; a fixing part 20 fixed to the bed and having a through hole 20a; and an intrusion prevention part 23 for preventing impurities from intruding between the through hole of the main shaft and the through hole of the fixing part.
