Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical magnetic recording medium which has an excellent signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) in a wide recording density region, which has characteristics stable also to thermal fluctuation and which can be easily manufactured.
SOLUTION: The vertical magnetic recording medium consists of, a glass substrate 11, a first recording layer 14 provided on the substrate via a base film 13, having vertical magnetic anisotropy and the intensity of magnetic exchange interaction between particles of nearly zero, and a second recording layer 15 laminated on the first recording layer 14, having vertical magnetic anisotropy and the intensity of magnetic exchange interaction between particles of greater than that of the first recording layer.
