To provide a base housing of a vertical mill that can prevent breakage of a primary air duct and can eliminate a shape change of an opening and reinforcement of the opening by a rib.
A housing body 4 is provided continuously on the base housing 3 accommodating a crushing table 6 and forming a primary air chamber 26 under the crushing table 6. Journal covers 18 are provided at positions equally dividing the lower circumference of the housing body 4 by a predetermined number. Each journal cover 18 is provided with a crushing roller unit 19 through a pivot shaft 23. The base housing 3 is supported by a predetermined number of legs 5 each positioned below the crushing roller unit 19. The primary air duct 27 is provided between the legs 5 of the base housing 3. Primary air 31 is supplied to the primary air chamber 26 through the primary air duct 27. It is determined that in an opening of the base housing 3 communicated with the primary air duct 27, the edges and corners of the opening are located out of a load transmission path extending from the crushing roller unit 19 to the leg 5.
