Abstract:

To reduce meshing sound of gears connecting a crank shaft and an eccentric shaft.

A vertical, multi-link, adjustable-stroke type engine 10 having a crankshaft 12 with an axis line 12a thereof oriented in a substantially vertical direction includes: a lubricating oil passage 120 provided in a cylinder barrel 16 for supplying lubricating oil to a lower shaft end portion 16 of a crankshaft 16 and upper and lower shaft end portions 66b, 66c of an eccentric shaft 66, which is provided in a crank case 15 and changes an intake stroke and compression stroke of a piston 13, so as to pre-press the crankshaft and the eccentric shaft in a predetermined direction; or a lubricating oil passage 140 for supplying lubricating oil to the lower shaft end portion 66c of the eccentric shaft 66 so as to pre-press the eccentric shaft in a predetermined direction.
