To return effectively a ground product to a grinding part by reducing influence of an upward flow furthermore than before.SOLUTION: A vertical roller mill includes a vertical housing, a grinding part provided on a lower part of the vertical housing, for grinding an object to be ground, a raw material supply part for supplying the object to be ground to the grinding part, an air flow generating part for generating an upward flow for conveying upward a ground product generated in the grinding part, a classification part provided over the grinding part, for classifying the ground product, and a transfer part for sending a coarse ground product forcibly to the grinding part by applying external force directly to the coarse ground product classified in the classification part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
