To provide a vertical shaft forming method for enabling efficient repair by enabling vertical shaft excavation which does not cause the lengthening of a construction period and a deterioration in workability even if another existing pipe and the like are buried near a repair object such as an existing pipe; and to provide a pipeline laying method using the vertical shaft forming method.
In this pipeline laying method, a vertical shaft 1 is formed in such a manner as to include a buried existing pipe 9: the existing pipe 9 is cut off in the vertical shaft 1; and a new pipe composed of a single pipe smaller in diameter than the existing pipe 9 is sequentially carried into the existing pipe 9 from a cut region, so that a pipeline can be laid. The pipeline laying method includes: a vertical-shaft forming step of forming the vertical shaft 1 by utilizing a part of a side surface of the existing pipe 9 as an earth retaining wall of the vertical shaft 1; an existing-pipe cut-off step of forming an opening 15 by partially cutting off the existing pipe 9 exposed through the vertical-shaft forming step; and a new-pipe inserting step of inserting the new pipe 23 from the opening 15.
