Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce a heavy thrust load applied to the thrust bearing for the vertical shaft rotary electric machine by a method wherein a magnetic thrust bearing is utilized for a main bearing while an oil film thrust bearing is utilized for an auxiliary bearing. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic thrust bearing is constituted with an annular fixed section 26 secured to a bracket 24 and a disklike fixed section 30 secured to the vertical shaft 10, and most of the thrust load is supported by the magnetic thrust bearing as the main bearing of the vertical shaft rotary electric machine. On the other hand, upper and lower shoe segments 40, 42 secured to the bracket 24 above and below a thrust collar 38 are arranged so as to abutt against and slide on the collar 38, thereby constituting the oil film thrust bearing which shares a part of the thrust load for this machine. Load sensors 44, 44 are arranged on the supporting body of the shoe segments 40, 42 and are connected to load measuring devices 46, 46 through wires to input the outputs thereof into a current controller 36. When the load exceeded the average value thereof, magnetic attracting force is increased and the vertical shaft 10 is lifted up.
