To eliminate a column pipe and reduce the height of a pump by providing a guide vane converting speed energy of liquid energized by an impeller into pressure and a discharge elbow and installing the guide vane at the inside of the discharge elbow.
When an impeller 3 is driven via a drive shaft 2 passing through a discharge elbow 1, liquid is discharged via a suction bell 4 and is sucked into a bowl 5 and liquid is energized by the impeller 3 at this bowl 5. After this liquid enters the discharge elbow 1 and the speed energy is converted into pressure by a guide vane 7 in a process that the liquid flows in this discharge elbow 1, the liquid flows out via a gate valve 8. Because the guide vane 7 is installed at the inside of the discharge elbow 1, a column pipe can be eliminated. Therefore, a duct length can be shortened by the eliminated part and the height of a pump can be reduced. Therefore, the height of a pumping plant can be reduced and the civil engineering and construction cost can be reduced.
