To contribute to reduction of cost by reducing structural members and simplifying the installation works in a vertical shutter device, and make going-in/out of a person and putting-in/out of articles free from an obstacle by removing the obstacle from the floor.
A vertical shutter device is of a self-running type so constructed that a shutter member 10 is hung down on a portal shutter frame 1. The shutter 1 is formed by right and left side frames 2, 2 and an upper frame 3 for connecting the upper end parts thereof to each other. The shutter member 10 is formed by shutter curtain fitting materials 11, 12 and a shutter curtain material 14. An electric motor 18 and driving wheel 26, 26 are provided on the upper part of the second shutter curtain fitting material 12 from the right, and a rolling wheel and a guide wheel are provided on the upper parts of the shutter curtain fitting material 11 and the other shutter curtain fitting material 13.
