PURPOSE: To permit to confirm the rotating condition of the pump without dismantling a strainer by attaching the strainer to only the pump casing side of a disc-shaped partitioning wall provided at the intermediate part of the suction casing.
CONSTITUTION: A hole 17, penetrating through a coupling 11, is formed at the intermediate part of the suction casing 4 while a partitioning wall 14, fixed to the casing 4, is provided. The outer periphery of the upper side of the partitioning wall 14 is covered by the strainer 5, but the lower side thereof is opened and the rotating part of the pump is exposed. Sand removing collars 7a, 7b are incorporated into the rotating part at the lower side of the partitioning wall 14 and the sand removing collar 7a, fixed to the coupling 11, is formed with small holes 8, however, these small holes 8 are accessible by the tip end of a driver or the like without removing the strainer 5, therefore, the confirmation of the rotation of a pump shaft is easily effected by hand. The packing part of the shaft does not contact with the flow of water directly, therefore, invasion of sand into the shaft packing part is prevented and the life of the bearing part of the pump may be elongated remarkably.
