To provide a vertical-type casting apparatus where the inflow of gas from the outside into a die cavity is prevented, and a casting free from gas entrapping can be reliably cast, and to provide a vertical-type casting method using the vertical-type casting apparatus.
The vertical-type casting apparatus is equipped with: an apparatus body comprising a lower side fixed die 1 and an upper side movable die 2 capable of forming a die cavity 10, a clogging means 13 of clogging a molten metal inflow gate 11 formed at the fixed die 1, and pressurizing means 14, 20 of pressurizing molten metal in the clogged die cavity 10; and a casting means 7 of feeding and packing the molten metal from the lower part into the die cavity 10. The boundary part between the fixed die 1 and the movable die 2 is provided with a circumferential gas passage 22a surrounding the die cavity 10 and communicating with the die cavity 10, and further, a vacuum suction mechanism of vacuum-sucking gas in the circumferential gas passage 22a is provided. The casting method uses the same.
