Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical type lathe which enables height adjustment of a workpiece placement table while reducing a load of a worker.SOLUTION: A vertical type lathe 1 includes: a spindle 2 where a workpiece placement table 3, on which a workpiece may be placed, is attached to an upper end through a liner 8 replaceably disposed so that a height of the workpiece placement table 3 may be adjusted, the spindle 2 perpendicularly provided; roller bearings 10, 11 which are disposed below the workpiece placement table, are fixed to a storage member 4 for storing the spindle to rotatably support the spindle, and receive a radial load acting in a radial direction of the spindle; and a thrust bearing 13 which is provided between the storage member and the workpiece placement table and receives an axial load acting in an axial direction of the spindle. Preload means 12, which pulls the spindle to the lower side in the axial direction to move the workpiece placement table to the lower side and thereby causes the moved workpiece placement table to apply a downward preload to the thrust bearing, is provided at the storage member.
