Abstract:
1. Container for the transportation and storage of biologically harmful materials, in particular radioactive materials, comprising a base body and a lid which is secured on the latter by means of bolts via two concentric gasket rings attached at a mutual interval and is provided with a conduit, the bearing surfaces of base body and lid being plane-parallel in the region of the two gasket rings, characterized in that the conduit (5) through the lid (2) ends in the annular zone between the two gasket rings (3, 4), in that the inner gasket ring (4) has a smaller cross-section than the outer gasket ring (3), and in that the difference in cross-section between the two gasket rings (3, 4) is selected as a function of the spring characteristics of the sealing material, such that when the lid (2) is placed on the base body (1) only the outer gasket ring (3) is initially compressed in sealing fashion and the inner gasket ring (4) is not yet touched by the lid (2) or the base body (1).
