Abstract:
To prevent damage to a neutral brake in a composition which is as simple as possible.SOLUTION: Deceleration reversal gear machine 8 which is an example of a vessel propulsion device includes: a forward/backward switching mechanism 17 for switching rotational power of a main engine loaded on a vessel to forward, neutral, or reverse output; an output shaft 6 for transmitting output from the forward/backward switching mechanism 17 to a propeller 5; and a neutral brake 31 for braking an output shaft 6; as well as including a neutral brake control mechanism 61 for on one hand holding the neutral brake 31 in a braking state when the forward/backward switching mechanism 17 is in the neutral state as well being operated to brake and having the neutral brake 31 in a released state when the forward/backward switching mechanism 17 is not in the neutral state on the other hand.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
