To provide a vessel for seedling growth which is composed of a mixture of poly(lactic acid) and starch, resistant to hydrolysis to maintain its mechanical strength during rearing the seedling and can be buried in a soil when the seedling is planted in the soil and can allow the roots of the seedling to freely extend outward and tangle to the surrounding walls.
This pot is produced by forming a mixture of poly(lactic acid) with starch where the content of starch is ≤40wt.%. The poly(lactic acid) preferably has a weight-average molecular weight of 150,000-250,000 and the starch has an average particle size of ≤10μm. The objective vessel may be obtained by forming a mixture of poly(lactic acid), ≤10wt.% of other aliphatic polyester and ≤40wt.% of starch or by forming a mixture of 70-90wt.% of poly(lactic acid), 30-10wt.% of other aliphatic polyester and starch where the content of starch is <40wt.%.
