To obtain a vessel using a shell without impairing the glass, quality feeling or transparent feeling of the shell and without water permeability by adhering many thin shell pieces along the outer periphery of a glass base having the state of the vessel.
A flower vase A having a jar-like state is formed of a glass base 1 and many sheet pieces 2 laminated to the entire surface of the base 1. In this case, the pieces 2 are partly superposed with each other to entirely constitute a shell layer 3. The base 1 has an opening 5 at the upper part, and a neck 6 gradually thinned from the periphery of the opening 5, a shoulder 7 gradually extended from that toward the lower side, a body 8 slowly thinned toward the lower side substantially in a cylindrical state and a bottom 9. Accordingly, since the base 1 is made of glass, the pieces 2 are reinforced from the rear surface to obtain the sufficient strength. The transparency as the entirety can be freely selected, and it does not pass water. Thus, it can be suitably used as a flower vase or bowl.
