To provide a vibration absorbing member which can obtain functions (beat) as a desired vibrator to match the natural frequency of a striking tool, absorb and ease impact vibrations generated during the striking quickly and moreover, sustain a prolonged stable absorbing capacity.
The member comprises a bar-shaped mass body 4 acting as a vibrator and an elastic material 5 covering the circumference of the mass body 4. The elastic material 5 has a double-layer structure which comprises an inner foaming elastic material layer 6 directly covering the circumference of the mass body 4 and an outer elastic material layer 7 stacked on the circumference of the inner foaming elastic material layer 6 to cover it while having an elastic deformation area smaller than that of the inner foaming elastic material layer 6. An adhesive layer 8 such as an adhesive double-coated tape is interposed between the stacked layers of the inner foaming elastic material layer 6 and the outer elastic material layer 7.
