To provide a vibration control device having excellent response to a small quake and capable of developing a vibration control function to a large quake.
In this vibration control device disposed between an upper structure 1 and a floor surface 2, a marble member 5 is inserted between an upper member 3 and a lower member 4. The upper member 3, the lower member 4, and the marble member 5 are formed of a hard material such as a metal, or of a plastic or a rubber so improved as to have a vibration control function compatible with that of the hard material such as the metal. The thickness of the marble member 5 is optionally set to match the amplitude expected to occur on the floor surface of each story of a tall building structure in an earthquake. In the vibration control device, against the small quake of the earthquake, the device has a response due to the rolling of the marble member 5, and against the large quake, the marble member receives the compressing resistance of a partial non-spherical surface recessed part between the upper member 3 and the lower member 4 to generate a vibration control function.
