To provide a vibration control device for achieving higher vibration control performance by using a whole outer force absorbing damper for uniformly absorbing outer force such as compressive force or tensile force applied to structural members of a building.
A hysteresis damper 20 exists between reinforcing members which are mounted in a rectangular space part 4 formed by a sill 1 and structural members such as columns 2a, 2b and a horizontal member 3 of the building, between each column and the sill or the horizontal member. An outer force absorbing damper is formed of an aluminum extrusion-molded material which has a plurality of ribs 22 dividing a plurality of hollow parts 23 arrayed along the acting direction of outer force and whose hollow parts and ribs are deformable depending on the outer force. The reinforcing members are formed of first and second reinforcing members 11, 12 whose base ends are fixed to the structural members and which are formed of cross-section rectangular aluminum hollow protrusion-molded materials. At the front ends of the first and second reinforcing members, cutout parts 15 are formed to prevent mutual interference due to the action of the outer force, and connection pieces 16 are provided which are fixed to the opposed outside faces along the longitudinal direction of the outer force absorbing damper in face-contact therewith.
