To provide a vibration damping device effectively coping even with the vibration with frequencies varying over a wide range from a low frequency up to a high frequency and an erected member superior in vibration damping performance.
The vibration damping device 1 stores a plurality of spherical bodies 22 in a vessel having a curved surface shape on an inner surface of a bottom surface 20 and each spherical body in the vessel is stored in such a manner that the same can freely move in the vessel. The vibration damping device can be a compound vibration damping device 5 by combining a vertical hollow body in which a suspending member is suspended with the vessel storing the plurality of spherical bodies 22, and making the axis of the suspending member 11 coincide with an axis of a vertical hollow body 10.
