To completely avoid generation of a molding fin in a contact surface relating to a housing of an independent mass member, in a vibration damping device for a vehicle arranging the independent mass member received to a dead space in the housing to display a vibration damping effect based on impact contact with the housing of the independent mass member.
An abutment surface relating to at least a housing 14 of an independent mass member 16 is constituted by an elastic material 24, also a generated position of a molding fin in the elastic material 24 is set by avoiding the contact surface in a vibration input direction where a vibration must be isolated.
