Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration damping device for realizing vibration damping means for absorbing vibration energy that deforms a quadrangular frame and for suppressing vibration, the vibration damping device being of a simple structure with a small number of parts and reducing a cost.SOLUTION: A vibration damping device 1 is disposed inside a quadrangular frame 8 formed by four constituent members, and includes vibration damping means, and two braces 10, 11 having a sufficient length to extend in opposite directions from each other from the vibration damping means at an inclination angle to a horizontal direction. The vibration damping means is formed by a plate-form vibration damping panel 12 orthogonal to the quadrangular frame 8 and having a thickness in a direction to penetrate inside the quadrangular frame 8. Vibration energy that deforms the quadrangular frame 8 is absorbed as the vibration damping panel 12 undergoes plastic deformation, when the two braces 10, 11 move oppositely in a lengthwise direction of the braces.
