To provide a vibration isolation device capable of providing a stable vibration isolation characteristic, and of preventing fatigue and breakage of an elastic material layer and columnar-shaped lead of an elastic body, and excelling in durability, a vibration isolation effect and manufacturability.
This vibration isolation device 5 includes the elastic body 3, in which elastic material layers and rigid material layers are alternately laminated on one another, and the columnar-shaped lead 4 arranged in a hollow portion 12 defined by an inner peripheral surface 9 of the elastic body 3. In the vibration isolation device, a ratio ap/Ar of a total area ap of a shearing surface of the columnar lead 4 to an area Ar of a load surface of the elastic body 3 is 0.01-0.12; and a ratio Vp/Ve of a volume Vp of the columnar-shaped lead 4 arranged in the hollow part 12 to a volume Ve of the hollow portion 12, with the columnar-shaped lead not inserted and a load exerted on the elastic body 3, is 1.02 to 1.12.
