In the engine non-diagnostic state wherein the vibration pickup 1 is dismounted from the engine, the vibration pickup 1 is excited by an exciter 6, and the vibration pickup 1 is evaluated by the diagnosis device body 2 based on the output acquired from the vibration pickup 1. Hereby, reliability of an engine diagnosis result can be heightened, and the vibration pickup 1 can be evaluated efficiently by utilizing the interval of the engine diagnosis.
