Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the drive efficiency of a vibration wave motor by providing irregular elastic modulus in the amplitude direction of a traveling vibration wave in a vibrator, thereby accelerating the moving speed of a movable unit. CONSTITUTION:A frequency voltage is applied to an electrostrictive element 1, and a movable unit 3 bonded to a vibrator 2 is driven by a traveling vibration wave generated in the vibrator 2 bonded to the element 1. The vibrator 2 has irregular elastic modulus in the amplitude direction of a traveling elastic wave. The vibrator 2 is, for example, composed by laminating low and high Young's modulus materials 2a, 2b in the amplitude direction of the traveling elastic wave, and the unit is contacted with the low Young's modulus material 2a side.
