PURPOSE: To reduce a sawing machine to a compact size by sliding a moving jaw on a vice stand by a feed screw rotated by a motor and generating a clamping force for a work by use of a hydraulic cylinder.

CONSTITUTION: When a clamping command is sent to a control portion 15 by a push button or the like, a signal is sent to a motor 13, and a feed screw 4 is rotated in a fixed direction, so that a moving jaw 3 is slid toward a fixed jaw 17. At the same time, a hydraulic cylinder 8 is slid in a clamping direction so as to clamp a work in co-operation with the moving jaw 3 and the fixed jaw 17. In case of releasing the work, a direction switching valve 10 is operated in the opposite direction and the motor 13 is reversed.
