PURPOSE: To build up the video conference system with excellent operability and full of presence under very economical configuration.

CONSTITUTION: The system has an image pickup camera 2 picking up a conference participant 1, communication equipments 3,4,6,7,10 coding a video signal picked up by the image pickup camera 2, sending the coded signal, decoding the sent signal and sending the decoded signal as a video signal, and a projection television receiver 11 projecting the video signal from the communication equipment 10 onto a screen 12, and also a projective direction controller 8 changing the projective direction of the projection television receiver 11 based on position data corresponding to the direction of the image pickup camera 2 outputted from a panning position detection means 50. A display video image of the participant 1 being an object is obtained on the screen 12 corresponding to the direction picked up by the image pickup camera 2.
