PURPOSE: To set the frequency characteristics of a reproduction signal constant from any position of any kind of a disk by controlling the frequency characteristic of an MTF amplifier in accordance with a burst signal level.

CONSTITUTION: A burst detection circuit 10 detects the burst signal level of the reproduction video signal. The output of the burst detection circuit 10 is supplied to a voltage conversion circuit 5. The voltage conversion circuit 5 forms control voltage corresponding to the burst signal level in the reproduction video signal. The control voltage is supplied to the MTF amplifier 4. Here, a TBC circuit 8 removes a time base fluctuation component in the reproduction video signal. The TBC circuit 8 outputs the video signal from which a jitter component is removed from an output terminal 11. The burst detection circuit 10 detects the burst signal level and the frequency correction characteristics of the MTF amplifier 4 is controlled in accordance with the burst signal level. Then, the frequency characteristics of the reproduction signal becomes constant.
