To provide a video display device that can display a stored image at a desired timing without requiring extra preparation.

The device includes a video signal processing unit 32 for generating an output video signal based on an input video signal, a display unit for displaying a picture on a screen based on a signal outputted from the video signal processing unit 32, a memory unit 51 for storing image data corresponding to the output video signal under predetermined conditions, and a control unit 21 for controlling the operation of the video signal processing unit 32. The control unit 21 controls, upon receiving a predetermined display instruction signal, the video signal processing unit 32 to read out the image data stored in the memory unit 21 and to display the image data on a screen.
