To provide a video display device which can display even a video signal of interlace system with high resolution and high display quality.

Each sub-pixel row L of an LCD 1 has such a structure that R pixel, G pixel and B pixel are repeated sequentially wherein the sub-pixels of vertically adjoining sub-pixel rows are arranged to be shifted by one half pitch in the column direction, and sub-pixels of the same color are arranged in the row direction. A display image of Δ shape or reverse Δ shape combining one R, G and B pixels is formed by a combination of the R pixel in an odd row and the G and B pixels in an even row in the Add mode of interlace system, and a combination of the G and B pixels in an even row and the R pixel in an odd row or a combination of the R pixel in an even row and the G and B pixels in an odd row in the Even mode.
