The video game apparatus includes: the depth sensor for imaging a space in which the player exists, and obtaining depth information for every pixel; and a gesture recognition unit sectioning the taken image into a plurality of sections, calculating statistical information of the depth information for every section, and recognizing the player's gesture based on the calculated statistical information.
