To provide the video image distribution method and system in which the same camera video image is simultaneously controlled from a plurality of terminals and a variable area viewed by each user from a different view point is obtained.

A real time video image of a wide range of a video camera 107 with a wide angle lens 108 is tentatively stored in a frame memory in a video image distribution device 101. On the occurrence of distribution requests from a plurality of terminal equipments 109, a communication control section 106 distributes simultaneously a partial or entire video image of a prescribed area of the frame memory 102 generated by a partial area video image generating section 103 or an entire area video image generating section 104 to the terminal equipments. When the users of a plurality of terminal equipments 109 request an area video image of interest, a communication control section 106 distributes simultaneously the partial area video image generated in the same way as a camera frame through the segmentation of a partial area 111 by the partial area video image generating section 103 to the terminal equipments. The partial area video image generating section 103 moves/magnifies/reduces the video image on the further request by the users.
