Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the wasteful consumption of transfer paper, in a video printer equipped with a head printing the image based on a video signal on transfer paper and a cutter cutting the transfer paper, by returning the transfer paper by the quantity of the distance between the head and the cutter or less at the time of printing before performing printing.
CONSTITUTION: In a video printer, a platen roller 32 is rotated when the printing start button arranged on an operation panel is pushed to feed the transfer paper delivered from a roll 22 toward a feed-out port and a thermal head 30 is driven corresponding to an image signal to print an image on the transfer paper 20. The printed transfer paper 20 is cut by a cutter 33. In this case, when the printing of the transfer paper 20 is started, the transfer paper 20 is returned by the quantity of the distance between the heater 31 of the thermal head 30 and the cutter 33 or less before printing is performed. The drawing-in quantity of the transfer paper 20 is detected by counting the FG pulses from the photointerruptor 47 arranged to the main shaft of a platen motor 43.
