An AV amplifier 1 detects a combination between the resolution and vertical frequency of input data and reads information relating to the combination between the resolution and frequency pre-stored in a display device 30. The AV amplifier 1 sets a combination between an output frequency and an output resolution, the combination including an output vertical frequency having a value produced by dividing the vertical frequency of the video data by the output vertical frequency being an integer and a value existing in the combination between the resolution and vertical frequency that are read from the display device 30, as the combination between the output resolution and output vertical frequency.
